Quarterly report IBNS, 2025/1

Dear readers of IBNS Journal and dear visitors of the website!

My name is Serhiy Trushyn, and in March 2020 I had the honour to found the Ukrainian Chapter of IBNS and lead it as President. We have come an impressive way in these 5 years – we have quadrupled in size, building strong trusting relationships with collectors in Ukraine. This has been possible thanks to our unity, enthusiasm and relentless pursuit of development. We didn’t just share knowledge – we created a community of like-minded people united by a passion for collecting banknotes.

We developed a website, launched an active Telegram chat, created a YouTube channel, Facebook and Instagram groups. Together we have held international meetings, organised friendly trips to money fairs, networked with dealers, participated in joint purchases of banknotes from National Banks of different countries and organised large-scale exchanges. We are proud that our online quizzes with prizes have always resonated and attracted new members to the IBNS community. We were not broken by pandemic or wartime trials – we kept going, supporting each other and keeping our community strong and united. I am eternally grateful to IBNS and to fate for the opportunity to be at the helm of such an amazing and inspiring team.

But life doesn’t stand still. This report in the IBNS Journal will be my last as President of the Ukrainian Chapter. We held elections in December 2024 and the Chapter now has a new President and Secretary, whose names will soon be published on the official IBNS platforms. It is with confidence and ease that I place the leadership in good hands and sincerely wish our community continued growth and prosperity!

Also in December, we triumphantly held our second Best Commemorative Banknote – 2024 competition. Thanks to our efforts, this event attracted much more attention and the number of votes tripled compared to last year! The winner of the contest was the Romanian banknote with the face value of 100 lei, issued in honour of the 185th anniversary of the birth of King Carol the First.

While still in the capacity of the President of the Ukrainian Chapter, but already representing the interests of the Fifth IBNS Region, I took part in the prestigious Arados exhibition, which took place in the capital of Bahrain, Manama, on 23-25 January 2025. The event included important meetings and valuable contacts that will contribute to the future development of IBNS. I will certainly report on the details of this event in future issues of the magazine, already on behalf of Region 5.

Dear friends, I leave the post of the President of the Ukrainian Chapter of IBNS with a feeling of satisfaction, joy and pride for the way I have travelled. Thank you to everyone who has been there for me, supporting and inspiring! May our Chapter continue to grow and develop under the guidance of new leaders.

With respect and best wishes,
Serhiy Trushyn, IBNS LM-259
